What is Safe Space?

What is SafeSpace Living?

SafeSpace Living is a 3 bedroom Residential Family Centre in the Lewisham area for families, expectant families and their children. The SafeSpace Living leadership team are qualified Social Workers with a commitment to providing a quality service. We provide an environment for parents to demonstrate their full potential in terms of positive parenting.

SafeSpace Living offers a range of services focusing on a robust range of assessments including the Parenting Assessment Framework, PAMS, ParentAssess and CUBAS Dynamic parenting assessment.

SafeSpace Living also offers Community Based Assessments including a full range of assessments for parents who are not based in the residential centre and can undertake various other assessments including, Special Guardianship Carer and Connected Persons Assessment. SafeSpace Living will support and encourage ongoing contact in line with care plans and provide ongoing support and development of the family life story throughout the journey with the organisation.

SafeSpace Living staff will always embrace, support and promote each individual family’s heritage and identity and our values are based on a non judgmental approach to directly working with families.

Working Relationship

SafeSpace Living staff will always support the development of positive working relationships to ensure that there is a basis of trust and understanding between families and staff. We work in partnership with families and professionals to maintain transparent, open and frequent communication.

Updated Research

SafeSpace Living staff are regularly provided with access to updated research and whilst our key objective is to safeguard the child, we will utilise creativity, where possible and safe to do so, to develop relationships and skills that can support families achieving good outcomes.

Individual Care Plan

Each family will have a tailored care plan and relevant interventions that will support the family achieving their goals and specifically tailored towards their learning style and/or need. SafeSpace Living staff consist of qualified Social Workers who are experienced in using PAMS, ParentAssess and CUBAS Dynamic Parenting Assessment. We work in partnership with families to meet their needs.

Therapeutic Approach

SafeSpace Living staff are trauma informed practitioners who utilise a therapeutic approach to support families making changes and sustaining these changes.  
SafeSpace Living provide access to two therapists who will work with families individually and can provide group work.  
Families will have the opportunity to access professional therapeutic support after leaving the centre to ensure they are supported and empowered when returning to the community.

Total Family Support

The SafeSpace Living core objective is for each family to have every opportunity to participate, develop, achieve and be heard whilst they are safeguarded during their stay.

SafeSpace Living aim to offer and provide total family support. We do this by encouraging and promoting parents developing their support networks whilst working therapeutically in partnership with staff to address any previous negative experiences.

We work therapeutically and holistically to empower families to achieve the best outcomes.

Our Mission

The SafeSpace Living mission is to work in partnership with families and professionals, utilising a therapeutic and holistic approach to produce quality assessments whilst affording positive changes intervention experiences for families.

SafeSpace Living operates a safe learning environment whereby interventions and support packages are tailored to needs to achieve positive outcomes.

The staff at SafeSpace Living are intrinsic to working with families and professionals and we provide exceptional training opportunities including the opportunity to undertake the Social Work degree.

SafeSpace Living provide a holistic and therapeutic approach to prioritising Safeguarding whilst working in partnership with families and professionals.

The recent Independent Care Review identified a consistent theme that reflected Care Experienced individuals would have benefited from long term mentoring/supportive relationships until they reach their majority and beyond. At SafeSpace Living, we aim to work in partnership with families to ensure that they can build positive life long relationships and safe, supportive networks to remove the barriers and impact of social isolation.
SafeSpace Living is an organisation run by qualified and experienced social workers who are aware of the importance of and benefit of multi agency working and partnerships. SafeSpace Living will work in partnership with professionals and families to allow for safe and secure growth in the future.

SafeSpace Living professionals’ ethos is based around the multi agency partnership model. Professional working relationships are intrinsic to the SafeSpace Living vision and values and staff will always work closely with and communicate effectively with a wide range of professionals to secure positive outcomes for parents and their children . SafeSpace Living focuses on sharing information and partnership working to support the outcome of each family's individual care plan.

SafeSpace Living takes pride in ensuring that all families are recognised and supported as individuals.

We ensure that communication with the families and professionals is an intrinsic part of our practice. We provide the opportunity for individual care plans, risk assessments and individual safe care plans to be reviewed, updated and amended within a timely manner and ensure that the families voice and views are captured within their individual plans.

SafeSpace Living  offers a broad range of therapeutic services to parents and the families that undertake their journey with us.  The therapeutic  services  will support the collective and individual needs of each parent and child.  This will be done by providing access to relevant provisions including domestic abuse support, drug and alcohol support, parenting training support and creating relevant plans to meet any identified needs in partnership with the Local Authority.
